Collaborative Rescue of a Long-Tailed Macaque in Gianyar

On June 15, 2026, Sintesia Animalia Indonesia, together with the Bali Provincial Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), the Gianyar Regency Agriculture Office, the Tegallalang Village Government, and Jaringan Satwa Indonesia (JSI), responded to a public report regarding the keeping of a long-tailed macaque in Gianyar, Bali.

Through an educational and outreach approach, including socialization of Bali Governor Circular Letter No. 19/2025, the owner voluntarily surrendered the macaque to the joint team. The animal was then safely transferred to JSI to undergo rehabilitation.

Wild animals are not pets. Beyond the risks to animal welfare and public safety, keeping wildlife also poses significant health risks to humans, other animals, and the environment.

This collaborative effort is part of a broader commitment to reducing wildlife trade and private ownership of wild animals, while fostering a more harmonious relationship between people and wildlife.
