The New Colombo Plan (NCP) Mobility Program provides scholarships and grants to Australian universities to support Australian students in participating in short-term study programs, training, and research activities. From September 17 to 30, 2022, Animals Australia and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University (FKH UNUD), as mobility partners, facilitated Murdoch University (MU) staff member Dr. Charlotte Oskam and eight MU students from various disciplines to gain language and cultural introduction; present challenges related to One Health and emerging zoonotic diseases in Bali; attend lectures, discussions, and practical sessions with FKH UNUD students, and have hands-on opportunities to work with the government and non-governmental animal welfare organizations – Bali Animal Defender and the Animals International Bali team (now: Sintesia Animalia Indonesia) during their stay in Bali.
This program aimed to enhance knowledge and experience, focusing during this period on community-based One Health initiatives and animal welfare, particularly regarding vector-borne infectious diseases, rabies eradication, and the dog meat trade in Bali.
