Supporting Bali Province Satpol PP in the Formation of Public Order Regulations (Including Prohibition of Dog Meat Trade and Consumption)

Satpol PP Satpol PP has introduced the formulation of a new Regional Regulation (Perda with sanctions including imprisonment of up to 3 months) which makes eating and selling dog meat an offense under the social order law they implement.

This regional regulation is very important and will make a big difference to our movement to eliminate the dog meat trade in Bali which we have been implementing since 2017. This regional regulation will prohibit people from not only selling but also consuming dog meat. Previously, society and even religious figures debated this matter using cultural reasons. This will be a big change for Bali and also show Indonesia that the government cares and good collaboration with the government is the right thing to do.

The workshop entitled “Consolidating and Equalizing Duties and Functions of Satpol PP in the Implementation and Enforcement of Regional Regulations and Regional Head Regulations related to Animal Welfare including Trade, Distribution and Consumption of Dog Meat and Rabies in Bali” was held on December 21 2022 in Jembrana Regency, and on January 26 2023 in Klungkung Regency. This workshop targets the Satpol PP of Bali Province and districts/cities throughout Bali as an offline presence and Satpol PP of other Provinces in Indonesia as a presence

daring.
